It is necessary to choose the right sound card and sound source from "CD Volume", "Line In", "Stereo Mix" and "Mic Volume" before recording.

You can activate the "Windows Mixer" window to balance the volume without digging it out from control panel. You also can check "Recording without silence" and click "Settings" to set the parameters to record sound without silence.

Now start the playback of the sound that you want to record. Then you can see wave variations in the wave pattern. You can drag the slider to adjust the recording volume. If the volume is too low, you can see only very small variations in the wave pattern. If the sound is being clipped off because the volume is too high, move the volume setting down until most of the volume range is displayed without clipping.

Click the red round record button to start recording and click "Pause" to stop the recording. Click "Keep" to input the recording to the waveform window of MP3 Audio Editor and click "Discard" to cancel the recorded file as needed.
